my past month... in a couple nutshells... new york #6

new york
day 6. saturday.

we got ready, packed and went to schnippers for lunch.

during the long car drive back to the airport,
new york and i had a heart to heart.
basically, i told it that i loved it.
it told me it loved me too.
i promised that some day i would live there.
some day.

my delta crown room pre-flight drink.
which is not alcoholic, despite how it looks to some...

i got home and headed back to my new home in slc.
and my roommate was still awake.
we shared a jacques torres chocolate.
we had to improvise on the cutting of it...
we had no silverware.

the new adventure has officially begun.

new york
day 5. friday.

last full day in the city.

we started with an early lunch at tea & sympathy.
it was delicious food.

however, we had an incident with a cockroach.
it followed us around the restaurant [on the ceiling]
and then fell right next to me.
i contained my fear and then the lovely british lady next to us
bravely squished the giant sucker.

we obviously got more gelato and shopped at the chelsea market.

we went to three tarts for more sweet treats!
specifically for their gourmet marshmallows
[the new cupcake].

we stopped at cafeteria for a quick bite...
or this giant, but phenomenal "snack"

headed to "newsies"
[my childhood - live]

poor alex... surrounded by girls who love him,
want to have his children and
who want their picture taken with him.

oh, that was me too.
at least i waited for the crowd to die down!
and it was for princess3.

and practically all of the utah natives
were there to share this moment.

new york
day 4. thursday.

we started the day with vintage shopping.
i bought a super comfy vintage plaid shirt [not pictured]
that i practically live in now.

i took my parents to novecento.
we were practically in argentina.
yeah, i'm no where close to being a vegetarian.
next we made our way to pop bar.
there were way too many choices.

but chocolate hazelnut always wins.

and across the street was molly's cupcakes.
this creme brulee cupcake was divine.
i wish i would have bought 7,500 of them.
it was that heavenly.

i found waverly place.
no sign of the wizards...

i bought shoes.
comfiest shoes on the planet.
i also live in these.
it might have been a couple weeks later that i
realized these shoes are two different sizes!
oh well, i laugh and get the smaller one stretched.
good thing they are adorbs!
my parents decided to take a nap in washington square park...
with the hobos. :)

i continued shopping...
why do we not wear beautiful dresses like this?
don't mind the giant arm due to the weird angle.
we ate at otto for dinner.
[mario batali's place]
yummy.

we prepared ourselves for the emotional roller-coaster
audra and norm were about to take us on in "porgy and bess"
depressing love story.
but beautiful.

my past month... in a couple nutshells... new york #3

new york
day 3. wednesday.

we started our day at the 9/11 memorial.
what a beautiful and humbling morning.

the padre then headed to "spiderman"
while the madre and i paid a visit
to jacques torres and his chocolate goodies.
our jacques torres spoils.
this was after we ate a cookie for breakfast...
scale at jacques'
then we grabbed a quick and scrumptious lunch at the milk truck.

best grilled cheese i've ever eaten.
prob cause it was made with gruyere...
or cause it was coated in butter...
or both.
the madre and i headed to "once"
love. this. show.
the music, the dancing, the staging, all beautiful.

the opening, brilliant.

we met back up with the padre for dinner at the counter,
for the best fifty-fifty.

after another quick shopping detour, we went to see "war horse"
from our "artistic view" seats.

it was so beautiful. i cried.
i'm sorry for anyone who saw the movie and didn't like it.
go see the play.
loved emerging from that beautiful production to this sight...
manhattan temple.
the madre and i dragged my dad around new york
trying to find ice cream to end our evening.
we finally found a little shop where i found this little treasure.

then, i ate one of these treasures.
this guy is brilliant i tell you.

my past month... in a couple nutshells... new york #1

i went to new york with my parents.
packing my "options"
it was expensive and fattening, but oh so worth it.
i love the city.
i love the sound of the subway.
i love riding on the subway.
i wish slc had a subway!
i love walking.
i love eating at crazy new restaurants (aka. restauranttourism)
i hate feeling like a tourist.
i love crosswalks.

day 1. monday.

we got to the airport and headed to the delta crown room
for some biscoffs and hot chocolate!
i may have stolen about 50 biscoff cookies over the course of this trip.

we flew to new york.

we went to the hotel.
i loved that wall and i loved those chairs.
our hotel was also a club... so it was fancy and stylin'.
i convinced my parents to be adventurous and eat afghan food for dinner.
so we headed to the afghan kebab house and ate DELICIOUS food.
we could have eaten there every day and i would have been happy.

my favorite gulpea, but with zucchini instead of cauliflower.
heaven i tell you.
we then walked the streets in search of our next adventure.
oh yeah, hey, i'm in new york!
(we just needed to celebrate that)

we went to two little red hens for cupcakes.
we obviously needed to try every kind...
we went to times square and...
ate ice cream.
then we headed back to our hotel which was when we realized it was also a club...
classy.
