how do you become an adult?
is it based just on your age? or is it the experiences you have that make you an adult?
and if it's your experiences, then what about your experiences make you an adult?
the more you have, the more "adult" you are?
or are there adult experiences?
is it how you handle new/difficult experiences that proves whether or not you're an adult?
or is it based solely on how you feel?
i have had experiences in my life that could prove i'm an adult.
i've graduated from college. i've purchased a car. i've lived away from home. i've lived in another state.
i've made an award winning apple pie and i make a mean frozen hot chocolate.
i've made decisions, hard ones and easy ones. i've claimed myself on my taxes -- i pay taxes!
(that's an exclamation mark to denote that i really do, cause some people don't,... not because i'm excited about it)
today i had an experience that one could classify as an adult experience.
and i think i handled it well, so i thought that was quite adult of me...
either way, i feel more like an adult!
i know peter pan wouldn't approve of my happiness about this and there are definitely times i long for the simplicity of childhood. but somewhere, deep inside, it feels good.
and you know that growth is what life is all about.
So, as a reward for my adult moment today, i will reward myself with...
ICE CREAM!
oh, and dr. pepper. yes, i know kids are bribed with ice cream.
i guess, no matter how adult we become there will always be a little kid running around inside.
